Certification: Brophy is a member of the State Bar of California and has been since 1962. He is also a member of the Alameda County Bar Association.
Associations: Brophy has been a speaker before the San Francisco Medical Association, San Francisco Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians.
A partner within well-known law firm Hanna, Brophy, McLean, McAleer & Jenson, Brophy is prominent in the debate on the Electronic Adjudication Management System (EAMS). His law firm has sponsored legislation on improving EAMS, and he’s testified before the Legislature on the challenges of using EAMS in its current form. He’s also asked tough questions during hearings about its implementation, especially as it pertains to scanning documents and then destroying the originals. Brophy’s law firm has had several of its attorneys move on to higher places, including Diedre Lowe, who now sits on the Workers Compensation Appeals Board.
